Matt is an associate attorney in Kightlinger & Gray’s Indianapolis office. Prior to joining the firm, Matt was a Deputy Attorney General in the Indiana office of the Attorney General’s Government Litigation section. In that role, Matt gained extensive federal and state court experience in a variety of areas representing state agencies and state employees including 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claims, small claims, habeas and post-conviction relief petitions, and petitions for removal from the Sex and Violent Offender registry. Matt also clerked in the Appeals section of the Attorney General’s office in law school, where he worked on civil and criminal appeals in state and federal courts.
Matt graduated from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio in 2012 with a major in Political Science and minors in English and History. Matt was Student Body President and an Ashbrook Scholar, and he held numerous roles in his fraternity. Following graduation, he worked for the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity Headquarters for five years before attending law school at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. In law school, Matt served as the Editor-in-Chief of Volume 53 of the Indiana Law Review and was named to the Order of the Barristers due to his performance in the Robert H. Stanton Moot Court competition.
Outside of his legal practice, Matt enjoys travel, board games and concerts with friends, and keeping up with the latest shows and movies.
